What the law says

Excerpts of the law are reproduced in their official French version; the explanation that follows is translated.

Only a lawyer, a notary or a licensed consultant may, for a fee, advise or represent a person on an immigration application. Me Guillaume Phaneuf is a lawyer and a member of the Barreau du Québec: he is the representative declared to IRCC for your file.

Loi sur la citoyenneté (L.R.C. (1985), ch. C-29), art. 21.1 (2) a)

The same rule applies to citizenship applications: a lawyer in good standing may advise and represent you for a fee.
