What the law says

Excerpts of the law are reproduced in their official French version; the explanation that follows is translated.

Code civil du Québec, art. 1851 et suivants (louage résidentiel)

Residential leases are regulated: notices, time limits, repossession, eviction, termination and damages follow precise rules that the Tribunal applies.

Official text on LégisQuébec

When the application seeks only the recovery of a sum of money within the small claims limit (CA$15,000, Code of Civil Procedure, art. 536), the lawyer cannot act before the Tribunal; the lawyer can advise you and prepare the file, and you appear yourself.
